Sanjyo, Kyoto
Captured over three days in central Kyoto, this series follows a walk through Sanjyo, along Teramachi Street, and beside the Kamo River. The photographs move between temple gates, quiet shrines, covered shopping arcades, cafés, and finely crafted architectural details, revealing the subtle rhythm of the city on foot.
Among the places visited is Honno-ji Temple, closely associated with Oda Nobunaga and the Honnō-ji Incident of 1582. Although Nobunaga is believed to have died there, his remains were never found, leaving one of Japan's enduring historical mysteries.
Together, these photographs explore the balance between Kyoto's historic heritage and contemporary urban life, celebrating the precision and craftsmanship of its traditional architecture alongside quieter everyday moments. Captured in late May, the vibrant greenery and soft spring light enrich every scene, adding warmth and serenity to the city's timeless atmosphere.
